Scrappy Sunday – Paris Mini Book

Paris Mini Book

I was watching the classic “How to Steal A Million” the other day starring one of my favourites, Audrey Hepburn.  The entire thing is based in Paris and it made me remember my Paris trip many moons ago and how I still hadn’t done anything with my photos.  So, I thought it was about time to make a Paris Mini Book to put all of my memories in (before I forget them:) and to have out for all to see.

I found this old Paris picture book at a school book sale a couple of years ago and was keeping it for just this occasion.

I took the entire book apart, cutting off the front and back cover with an x-acto knife but keeping the inside pages to add to my book later.  I had what was supposed to be a wall hanging (sold at a dollar store), took it apart and used it as a stencil for both sides of the front and back covers.  I love this thing because it is much bigger then a typical 12″x12″ stencil and a lot less expensive.

For the title I grabbed my chipboard letter jar and picked different letter types to spell Paris.  Partly because I didn’t have all the letters in the same font and partly because I like the randomness.  I just added a bit of black ink to each of them to make them a little more cohesive.

I just cut my Eiffel Tower out a piece of scrapbooking paper I had and added Layerable Flowers from Maya Road.  But first, I took the layers separately and rubbed them right onto an ink pad.  The largest one in black as the background is red, then the next layer in red.

Then just topped it with a Basic Grey button.

I wrapped a vintage inspired ribbon all the way around the front cover and added a couple Industrial Chic charms.

On the inside cover I pasted a map of the Paris Metro and the first page is from the original book and is covered with pictures from L’arc De Triomphe as that was my first stop off of the Metro when I arrived in Paris.  My pictures will be added later.

The insert pages are from the original book, scrapbook pages and a linen mounted map of France I cut up.

Then the back of the book is a plastic sleeve that I put my itinerary in and the cover has an arial view of the entire city, super cool.

I just popped two holes in everything and bound it together with two rings.  Now I finally have an inspiring place that is worthy of such a trip.  Layouts to come soon!
