Halloween Decor

Trick or Treat time is quickly approaching and is only about a month and a half away so I thought I would whip up some Halloween Decor on this rainy Saturday afternoon.  This could be a great project for kids if you are looking for something to keep them busy.

I started with some inexpensive 5×7 canvas panels I had picked up at Dollarama and painted both sides black.

I then went snooping on the Graphics Fairy website for some vintage Halloween images and found plenty I liked.  I printed some out onto plain white paper then adhered them over top of some old encyclopedia pages with Mod Podge.

I didn’t like any of the witch images so just printed a photo of a very stern looking lady and a witches hat then put them together.  Don’t be afraid to combine images, they tend to turn out better.  I highlighted the ribbon on her hat with some glitter glue.  Even witches need a touch of glam.  I added a bit of glitter to the other two pieces as well.

I then punched a couple holes through the top and strung some rusty wire through, curling the ends so they wouldn’t slip out and voila!!

Cheap and cheerful Halloween Decor!!

You could make this much more fancy if you like and add more layers, maybe some ribbon or lace.  I might actually go ahead and do that now that I think about it.  I think tying a bit of trim to the wire would finish it off nicely!!
