So, I have discovered that I frequently post my art journal pages on Monday, so it has now been officially changed to Monday Journal, haha. I knew this week I wanted to do a BELIEVE art journal page. I started with red lettering and a silver background. I also added some vintage cigar bands I picked up at an antique store in Vermont, which you can see under all the ink and paint here.
Once I got that down I was a little stumped. I was looking for some inspiration so headed to Donna Downey’s site to check out Inspiration Wednesday. Once I saw the inked circles with drippage I was off. Thanks Donna!! I pulled out a circle stencil and first sprayed them with a teal ink. Once they dried, I put the stencil back on and covered the circles with another swirly stencil which I applied white paint to.
Since the ink was water soluble I had to be careful and just dab on the paint with my fingers. In some circles I just rubbed it in so it would reactivate the ink and combine with the white. ( I need to get my video camera set up so I can just do videos and show you exactly what I mean :).
I wanted to add a little texture with the letters so for the L’s in “WILL” I used a fabric ribbon and for the last S in “PASS” I used a red India Ink. I then outlined all the letters with my black pen.
I then outlined all the circles with lots of black India Ink and tilted my book because I wanted lots of drippage. You can see to the right of this pic the gorgeous vintage sugar package I also discovered in the loot of cigar bands I got.
I am a pretty positive person but even I need a little reminder at times to “BELIEVE THIS WILL PASS”.
